A couple of months ago, Totally Cleared were asked to carry out an Office Clearance on a series of offices that were no longer used by the client. The clients had moved to bigger offices, and had no need for the remaining items.

This office clearance was made all the more interesting by the fact that part of the building was a 16th century  house. This meant that many of the offices were small, with tight doorways and corridors that were short. The building was also over multiple levels, so the use of trolleys was very difficult. Even though the steps were only a few inches, one every few feet did make the use of trolleys very difficult.

The equipment that had been left behind was all used, and still in good condition. As much as possible was saved, and taken back to Totally Cleared's warehouse for sorting. From all the items that were removed, a number were donated to local charities, so that they could reuse or sell. Other items were safely and securely disposed off, in line with current regulations. All electrical equipment was disposed off complying to the weee regulations.

There is always items in offices like this that are not ideal for charities, and really can't be reused or recycled, so they need to be thrown away. When this happens, they are taken to a local waste recycling facility. As Totally Cleared are a responsible company who are registered upper tier waste carriers, they have to use the trade tips, and pay to recycle or dispose of anything that they can't reuse. Very little is thrown to landfill, as the vast majority can be recycled as wood, hard plastics or metals.
